Turbocharged LS Engine Build

Next, was to mock up and then weld together all of the intercooler piping which is meant to cool the air going into the engine after it is heated up by the turbo.

Super success!!! The wastegate was then mounted, and to keep the heat down, I wrapped all the exhaust pipes going to the turbo in header wrapping and painted it black. A long but rewarding project!

The car ran amazingly fast on just 7 pounds of boost. At 14 pounds and a trickflow cam, I was running at best 11.3 @ 128 mph. It sounded wicked awesome too and always brought a crowd of people around to check out whats under the hood. A few videos below.

The car was an amazing project though I did encounter lots of failures. I ended up rebuilding the engine multiple times and on the last broken piston, I had had enough of working on it and it was time to let the car go to a new owner. I was ready for a new chapter in my life and ended up selling the car to buy an RV to travel the US in. I miss the car, and after it's 3rd of 4th new owner, I lost track of it. But it sure was fun to build and race!
