RV Adventure Part 1

I had to stop in Amarillo to see the RV museum. It was pretty cool.

I arrived in Colorado finally after a super long uphill grade through New Mexico. It looked flat but my engine and transmission were getting thrashed pretty hard.

First stop was Trinidad, Colorado where I stayed the night at a Wal-Mart. Then on to Colorado Springs, Manitu Springs, and ending in Woodland Park up in the mountains where I stayed for several weeks. It was so beautiful.

We decided to keep going west and so onward we went. We passed the steepest grade of the entire trip, Hooser Pass AKA the continental divide. The road had many overheated vehicles stopped on the side, but my truck proved itself though the gauges were climing. I believe it is a 12 or 13% grade mountain road.

Below is a little colorado town called Cripple Creek. It's mostly for gambling but it is really cute. There are signs that say "Beware of roaming burros". There are donkeys that just run wild all over the town.

Below was something special. When the snow melts, the water is very clean and fresh. This spout on the side of the road had the best water I've ever drank in my life!

Uh oh, I had my first mechanical issue. One of my brakes stopped working and it turns out a wheel seal had failed causing grease to get slung all over the pad and drums. This ended up being a manufacturing defect, you can see the damages seal journal on the bottom pic.

I found a sleeve at a local NAPA auto parts store and sanded it to fit. Then with a piece of pvc pipe and a hammer, I tapped it on, changed out the greasy shoes, and for the rest of my trip, I had no more issues with this brake!
